Workshop ALD FUNdamentals
Dates: June 8 & 9
Location: Eindhoven, NL

General

Aim

The aim of the workshop is to spark a discussion about current topics in the field of atomic layer deposition (ALD) by addressing fundamental aspects of the method. It is expected that this discussion will lead to new and refined insights beneficial to further advance the field of ALD. The aim is to serve both scientists who work at the forefront of ALD research as well as newcomers and technologists who want to get a better understanding of ALD.

Context of the event

The workshop is organized in the context of the recently established COST action "HERALD" (MP1402) and simultaneously serves as closing meeting of the STW VICI project "Nanomanufacturing" that started at the TU/e in 2010.

Format

Consistent with the aim of the event, this will be a "true" workshop in which participants are encouraged to actively take part in the presentations and discussions. During the workshop, 5 current topics within the field of ALD will be covered with ample time and opportunity for discussion and interaction. Each topic will be introduced by speaker who is an authority in the field. In the introduction, basic aspects will be presented such that non-experts can take part in the discussion while the leading edge of the current understanding will also be presented. Afterwards, a specific case will be addressed in more detail by a researcher who has studied an aspect of the specific topic in depth. This will be followed by presentations from the participants and an open discussion.

Venue

The workshop will be held at the Grand Café "Zwarte Doos" on the TU/e campus in Eindhoven.

Program

How to participate?

Contributing a short presentation

It is possible to participate actively in one or more sessions by contributing a short presentation. If it fits well in the session topic, this presentation will be scheduled in the discussion part of the session. A presentation typically means one or a few slides in which you contribute to the discussion in a very direct way, for example, by describing some recent insights, new results, open research questions, etc. Extensive introductions and description of experimental methods etc. should not be part of the presentation. If you wish to present such details, people contributing in this fashion can additionally present a poster (see below).

The scheduling of the presentation will be done by the session coordinators as indicated on the two-pagers that will become available on this webpage. Here you will also find a clear description about the topic and the aspects to be discussed. Please contact the session coordinators if you want to contribute a short presentation. The final version of your presentation should be submitted before May 29 as this will allow the coordinators sufficient time to plan the sessions.

As mentioned, when you are contributing a short presentation, you can opt to also participate in the poster session. The poster will allow you to present more background information and interesting findings that cannot be discussed during the talk due to time constraints.
